Farmers Not Affected By Increased Ethanol Production

    By Mr Ethanol | June 16, 2008

    The Daily Advocate:
More corn is expected to stay in Ohio this year as a result of ethanol plants, such as the one that opened this year in Greenville.

Dwayne Siekman, the executive director of the Ohio Corn Growers Association, e-production.jpgsaid 45 percent of Ohio-grown corn is expected to leave the state this year, compared to the usual 60 percent.

The driving force behind the shift of corn staying in the state is the increased amount of ethanol production in Ohio, Siekman said. This year, 18 percent of Ohio-grown corn is expected to be used to produce ethanol, he said.
