Ethanol Woes

Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson says plummeting ethanol prices and rising corn prices are causing problems in the ethanol industry.
There are reports that some U.S. ethanol companies that are on the brink of bankruptcy. Johnson says he`s not aware of any North Dakota companies in serious trouble.
Johnson says he believes the problem is temporary. But he says some companies may be reconsidering plans to construct new plants.
Johnson says the ethanol industry, overall, has been very profitable. He says companies that have paid off their debts may be in a better position to “weather” the storm until conditions improve.
