Ethanol Construction Slows
By Mr Ethanol | October 3, 2007

KELOLAND TV, SD:
Soaring construction costs, high corn prices and the sliding price of ethanol have combined to stall some ethanol plant projects.
VeraSun Energy, based in Brookings, says it’s halting construction of a 110 million-gallon-per-year bio-refinery in Indiana. VeraSun says it might resume construction next year if market conditions improve.
The slowdown isn’t likely to affect plants already under way and those with financing in place.
Danny Herron, VeraSun’s chief financial officer, says ethanol prices have dropped nearly 50 cents per gallon in the last 60 days.
