Ex-CIA Director Backs Hybrid Cars

When someone asks former CIA Director Jim Woolsey (photo) where terrorists get their funding, his answer is liable to go something like this: ‘The next time you stop to fill up your car with gas, tilt your rear-view mirror a few inches to the left and you’ll see.”
Woolsey, who served as CIA director during former President Bill Clinton’s first term in office, has become one of the nation’s most outspoken advocates for energy security.
Sometimes described as a classic Washington insider, he will travel far from the Beltway to Riverside this Friday to speak at Renewable on Parade, billed as the area’s first international renewable energy conference.
There’s a frantic pace to Woolsey’s speaking schedule these days. He believes that two factors — the scientific consensus on the causes of global warming and the war on terror that began with the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks — have finally galvanized Americans to reverse their huge appetite for imported oil.
Woolsey said the change will have to be done right if Americans are to gain the results they seek — a reduction in funding for terrorism and a slowdown in global warming. Read more.
