Ford Gives Ethanol Demonstration Vehicles To KCP&L And Gov. Matt Blunt
By Mr Ethanol | August 16, 2007

Kansas City Star:
Ford Motor Co. presented three ethanol-powered Ford Escape Hybrids to Kansas City Power & Light and one to the state of Missouri in a ceremony Wednesday at the Claycomo plant.
The presentation was part of Ford’s plan to deliver a demonstration fleet of 20 E85 Escape Hybrids to select customers for use in six states.
Nancy Gioia, Ford’s director of sustainable mobility technology, presented the keys to Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt and Michael Chesser, chairman and chief executive of Great Plains Energy Inc., KCP&L’s parent company.
The E85 Escape Hybrid runs like the standard gas-electric hybrid except that it can use gasoline that is 85 percent ethanol as well as conventional fuel.
While vehicles that run on ethanol do not produce as good gas mileage as vehicles using regular gasoline, ethanol-fueled vehicles produce about 25 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
